<p>“RITURANGA” (Season’s galore) &#8211; a production with narrations and songs of Rabindranath Tagore woven together describing the six seasons choreographed in beautiful and innovative choreographies by Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty (one of the celebrated Indian Classical Dance Choreographers of the country) and presented by Somnath G. Kutty. The young, beautiful and energetic dancers will take the audience through the different seasons like The Summer, The Monsoon, The Early Autumn, The Late Autumn, The Winter, The Spring. The programme involving a variety of dance forms ranging from Kathak to Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam and Mohiniattam. The highlights of the production is the superb song rendition by the most sought after singers like Indrani Sen, Rohini Roy Chowdhury and Prabuddha Raha. The narration in English is by none other than the celebrated and respected Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty and supported by the wonderful musical compositions of Debashish Saha. BANSW is proud to present a top class programme involving the Kalamandalam troupe from Kolkata. Tickets will be on sale during Saraswati Puja and at the venue.</p>

<p>This year we are initiating a new programme to formally recognise and reward the highest achievers in HSC 2011 from within our community. We need your cooperation in selecting the best candidates for this years nominations. If your sons or daughters have appeared in HSC examinations this year they will be eligible for nomination. If you are interested for your children to be considered in the award selection process please forward a copy of their HSC results to <a href="mailto:info@bansw.org.au">info@bansw.org.au</a> within 5th January 2012.</p>
<p>The criterion for applications is as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>The student must have appeared in HSC 2011 examinations</li>
<li>The parents must be members of BANSW</li>
<li>They must forward a copy of their HSC results to be eligible for selection within 5th January 2012</li>
</ul>
<p>We will be recognising our highest achievers during Saraswati Puja celebrations in January 2011</p>

<p>Don’t overlook the amazing variety of food available at the Masala Market and Festival Lounge or one of the city’s outstanding restaurant precincts near Church Street or Harris Park. The festival begins with the 2011 Deepavali Fair at Parramatta Stadium on Sunday 30 October, to which everyone is welcome.</p>

<p>Every year between the months of January/February, Basant Panchami heralds the beginning of spring. As the sun makes it&#8217;s northerly ascent and nature awakens to a spectacular dance of regeneration, the pure and new dawn expresses the beauty, grace and magnitude of the great Prakriti as Goddess Saraswati.<br />
This Shakti, this expression of Prakriti, is celebrated as Saraswati Pooja (Puja) having sattwik qualities and no different to Devi Durga during the Navaratri or Devi Lakshmi during Diwali. She is the cosmic intelligence, the divine repository and expression of knowledge.<br />
The festivity occurs on the fifth day (Panchami) in the Hindu month of Margh. The golden colour of the ripened maize grains is reflective in the bright yellow garments which is customarily worn for the celebration. It is this yellow (Basant/Vasant) colour which gives the festival its name.</p>
<p>Puja Timetable:</p>
<p>10.30 am – 11.30 am . Lecture on Swami Vivekananda’s 150<sup>th</sup> birth anniversary celebration </p>
<p>Pushpanjali – 12.30 pm </p>
<p>Writing initiation for school starters </p>
<p>Bhog distribution – 2.00 pm</p>
<p>There will also be a cultural programme by our children on the day.</p>
