Mahabharata – Book Launch by BANSW Senior Member

One of the founder member of Benagli Association of NSW Inc, Dr Nripesh Podder has published English Mahabharata. It is a brilliantly written book by the author Dr.Podder, ex-head of department of Economics, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.His talent vividly captured, not only in his writing of the book, but his narration of the Indian society and evolution of that society, where men and women celebrated the very essence of cohesive Indian society.  It  is the development of law in the Indian society, where it is known as ‘Dharma’.  The use of jurisprudence and balance of the social justice is also captured magnificently.  The stories which are collectively arranged in this book, highlights the people, culture and majestic history of the Indian subcontinent over many thousand years. Although condensed, it is the most comprehensive and scholarly version of the great Indian epic.  It is written in simple English that reads like a fiction. This book is also a valuable information for the second generation Indians. Welcome to our association The Bengali Association of NSW (BANSW). Thank you for taking the time and showing the interest to join and strengthen our group. We pride ourselves in being a truly democratic organisation which belongs equally to all its members. As a paid up member you will be able to take part in all its activities and take up active positions as office bearers in BANSW organisation. You will also be entitled to vote at its annual general meeting.

“RITURANGA” (Season’s galore) – a production with narrations and songs of Rabindranath Tagore woven together describing the six seasons choreographed in beautiful and innovative choreographies by Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty (one of the celebrated Indian Classical Dance Choreographers of the country) and presented by Somnath G. Kutty. The young, beautiful and energetic dancers will take the audience through the different seasons like The Summer, The Monsoon, The Early Autumn, The Late Autumn, The Winter, The Spring. The programme involving a variety of dance forms ranging from Kathak to Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam and Mohiniattam. The highlights of the production is the superb song rendition by the most sought after singers like Indrani Sen, Rohini Roy Chowdhury and Prabuddha Raha. The narration in English is by none other than the celebrated and respected Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty and supported by the wonderful musical compositions of Debashish Saha. BANSW is proud to present a top class programme involving the Kalamandalam troupe from Kolkata. Tickets will be on sale during Saraswati Puja and at the venue.

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to celebrate the Republic Day of India (January 26) at my residence (No. 2 Pleasant Avenue, East Lindfield, Sydney, NSW 2070) from 0900 hrs. As in earlier years, there would be a flag hoisting ceremony, singing of the National Anthem and reading of the speech of the Hon. President of India.

 This is an auspicious occasion for all Indians and persons of Indian origin to gather together and I look forward to welcoming you all with your families.
